UCF Senior Design Project
UCF Engineering students are required to take a 2-semester design course where you work with a team to build a product from concept -> final working demo. In my cohort, I was the only student to pitch a project idea (versus local companies and faculty) to the class. I then worked with 4 other students to fully scope, design, and build the Child Check Safety application.
Child Check is a web and mobile app that can be used by schools and daycares to take attendance and automatically send notifications to parents when their child doesn’t show up for school. This project was originally inspired by a tragic event that happens too often in the US: a young infant in the NASA Huntsville community passed away after they were accidentally left in the car instead of arriving at daycare. This project can be expanded to other circumstances, where it is important that parents, caregivers, and authorities receive swift notification when a child does not show up to school.
